Dear Sponsor team,
My name is Adrien Devresse, I am a Fedora packager and a Software Engineer at CERN and would like to be a sponsor.
These are my reviews : https://bugzilla.redhat.com/buglist.cgi?component=Package%20Review&email1=adev&emailassigned_to1=1&emailtype1=substring&list_id=1501030&query_format=advanced
And the packages I'm responsible for : https://admin.fedoraproject.org/pkgdb/users/packages/adev?acls=owner&acls=approveacls
I have already done > 100 updates on packages for Fedora/EPEL and package unofficially more than 40 packages, mainly for European projects and Grid Middleware.
Thank you in advance, Adev
Some thoughts but no conclusion yet. The Fedora Project has grown so much, I don't know Adrien and haven't met him in any ticket/tracker/communication-medium before.
So, I've had a brief look at some of the reviews, and I like it when Adrien points out missing %check sections (that's always a pleasure to see reviewer do that!), questions !BuildRequires, poor summaries, and apparently has skimmed over a spec file actually instead of simply dumping fedora-review output into bugzilla.
It seems, however, that with just a dozen completed reviews, there's not much input to decide on. Directory ownership is not understood correctly yet, there are only few occasions where a !Packaging/Review Guidelines section has been linked, and the variety of reviewed packages has been limited, too.
Hi Michael,
Thank you for your time and your comment. It's true that my review are mostly related to grid softwares in C/C++ autotools cmake style due to my job, it will be a pleasure to do more review on diversified packages if needed : it's clearly not a problem for me and I'm absolutely not afraid of non C packages :)
About the directory ownership mechanism, I had the bad usage in the past to request the %dir macro explicitly, I understood my mistake about this, thank you to signal it.
Do not hesitate if you want to test me on any specific reviews or if you want to discuss on specific topics, I am fully available.
Adrien.
Meanwhile, I've made up my mind. Sponsors don't need to know every detail, sponsoring is about more than just reviewing packages, and much about Fedora is a constant learning-process anyway. I assume you will focus on the type of packages you've spent time on before. As such, I support the request to become a sponsor. Please point at the various guidelines more often than not, and in case of doubt ask publicly (e.g. on packaging list for Packaging Guidelines related topics).
+1
I fully agree with mschwendt's pov.
+1 from me, too.
+1 from me.
Being Adev's original sponsor, I am +1 as well.
I think Adev shows a good understanding of the Fedora mechanism, has good knowledge of packaging and has been able to help newcomers to improve their packaging understanding/skills. In addition, Adev isn't shy of asking questions when in doubt which I think is a very important thing even to become a sponsor.
Sorry for the delay here.
I have upgraded you in the account system.
Use your powers for good.
Hi Kevin,
No problem for the delay. Thank you for this and thanks Everyone for your support and your trust. It's a real pleasure to be one of you :)
