#699 samcday seeking sponsorship
Closed: accepted by ngompa. Opened by samcday.

Hello

I've been floating around the Fedora community for a little while now. I'm hoping someone out there has seen my name around in one of the various Matrix channels or elsewhere and would like to sponsor me into the packagers group.

I'm particularly interested in the mobile device space, which is admittedly a little nascent in the Fedora-world at current. I hope to do my small part to change that!

I'm moderately active upstream in the Phosh project, having contributed a few bits here and there. I've also worked with @lihis to update the Fedora packaging a couple of times over the last few months.

I'm developing/maintaining the phrog (:frog:) project. It's a greetd greeter, which uses Phosh (via libphosh) to provide a mobile-first user interface. Packaging is making its way through the Debian ecosystem, thanks to the efforts of Arnaud, who authored the original phog project that :frog: intends to replace. I've also contributed packaging for it to the Alpine community repo which made it into the v3.21 release. I've been maintaining a COPR and dogfooding this package on my desktop+laptop workstations for a few months. So now I'd love to get it distributed in Fedora for real :)

The first step to this is getting the underlying libphosh-rs Rust crates packaged in Fedora. @decathorpe kindly reviewed and approved the first one of these, rust-libphosh-sys

Thanks for reading, have a smashing day, dear (soon to be fellow?!) packager person!

I know you quite well.

I'm happy to sponsor you, give me a tick.

Wow, thanks a whole dang bunch

I'm very happy to reach this milestone in my Fedora adventure, and I'm really looking forward to finding ways to give back to this wonderful project and community that I benefit from on a daily basis :heartbeat:
