On Darwin platforms the temporary folder is different from Linux platforms. That make the folder mapping impossible for MacOS.
This issue must set the temporary folder to '/tmp'.
I am not sure if someone will ever want to run kiskadee on Darwin platforms, it is supposed to be an application to run on robust servers given its nature, which we believe to be unix servers. You might take a look at [1] if you want to propose a patch. But I'd be -1 on just hard coding the path to '/tmp' instead of using the tempfile lib.
On the other hand, is this giving you any errors on development environments or is it just creating the temp files under /var? This would be a NICE opportunity to properly clean up after kiskadee, since we never got the time to make sure it does so (+1 if you also provide tests for that)
@davidcarlos , any inputs on this?

Sorry by the late answer.
What we have done was add /tmp as prefix to the tempdir lib, when we have to create a new temporary dir. This will force the tempdir lib to always create the directories inside the /tmp. On unix systems this is the default behavior.
@athoscr we still are using the tempdir lib, and forcing a prefix, we do not depends of the default behavior of the environment where kiskadee is running.

Do we still want a fix for this, @danilobarros ? If so, feel free to send a patch with the solution provided in [1] on my comment above.
@danilobarros please, give us an answer, otherwise I will close this issue.
