#28 New Coordinator for pt-BR language.
Closed: Fixed Opened by itamarjp.

Hi,

We need a new coordinator for português (Brasil) pt-BR language, preferable more than one if possible, this is important to keep contributions from Brazilians growing.

thank you.

itamarjp

my personal recommendation is to upgrade current reviewers into Coordinator's

Thanks itamarjp for opening a ticket. Noriko can you look into this ticket?

I am concerning that the coordinator was not happy but he had to leave. It was very sad to hear that hand-over process had not been conducted in peaceful manner. Please discuss among pt-br language team members and reach the decision. I like to support the decision to be made by every members of pt-br language team.

what's going on is that in latam we have

coordinator that's not coordinating (coordinator was busy because his move to Australia)
mentor's of ambassadors that's not mentoring anyone. [1]
cardholder that doesn't process reimbursement's [2]

I think they don't leave because of the "Status", of being coordinator, mentor, cardholder,
they don't leave and don't do their tasks.

I have some questions

a) what are the friendly and peaceful manner to fix this issue ?
b) what's worse ? keep someone that's not doing anything or ask them to leave ?
c) should keep the guy that's not doing anything and add new ones ?

[1] - ask how many people each of them sponsored this year.
[2] - https://fedorahosted.org/fedora-latam/ticket/280
Waiting for reimbursement for more than a year and Fedora Project Leader
reducing latam budget because we are not using it.

I have not followed earlier discussion. But..

a) what are the friendly and peaceful manner to fix this issue ?
In Fedora we most of the follow general consensus. In pt-BR team, if majority are ready for this change, i think we should not wait. So voting is good way :) I see already couple give +1 here.

b) what's worse ? keep someone that's not doing anything or ask them to leave ?
Even if someone not doing work, we respect earlier contribution and keeps on motivating.

c) should keep the guy that's not doing anything and add new ones ?
Experience !! that old members pass to new one. So even if old coordinator not doing anything. It can be his/her experience which used to be helpful.

Again its important of taking leadership from new member. Its fine and must be done with consensus/majority.

FYI..We used to have [https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/L10N_Steering_Committee?rd=L10N/SteeringCommittee Language steering committee] once upon a time.

We have a consensus that current reviewers should be upgraded into coodinators,

fas :
danniel
xmrbrz

is that possible ?

Umm, Its 19 member group. https://fedora.zanata.org/language/view/pt-BR?dswid=7778
Agree, there might be few not active.
I think this need more discussion and long term solution. Not only for pt-BR but other groups as well.

Are you attending flock? Lets discuss in [https://flock2016.sched.org/event/ebd9efc5db99d2b74449983e5b122b6b g11n meetup] and see if we can plan anything and then discuss plan with members.

no flock, the group is small, having someone to approve new members it will probably grow.

please read about my recommended coordinators bellow in the link's

danniel ->

xmrbrz ->

I think every translator from the brazilian team like me, will agree with the nominees Danniel and Xmrbz (Bruno Zanuzzo) for new coordinators.

We need new coordinators, and because of the work done as reviewers, danniel and xmrbrz are the most capable to do this job.

Hello there.

For a while I have had to step back from the pt-br L10N team due to lack of available time but, fortunately, I am back now to join hands and help the team in order to better translate Fedora into Brazilian Portuguese.

It is a bit sad to come back now and see the situation the group has fallen into. I'd like to help, but before I need someone to accept my request to join at the "new" Zanata. If there is anything else I can do to be of any help, please let me know.
