When I try to promote a client to replica without providing replica file under domain level 0, I receive the following error message:

You used wrong mechanism to install a replica in domain level 1

The correct one should be 

You must provide a file generated by ipa-replica-prepare to create a replica when the domain is at level 0

How to reproduce

  1. Setup a master with domain level 0
  2. Setup a client

  3. Try to promote the client to replica:

    ipa-replica-install -U -w
