When I install the ipa client with --ip-address option provided, I expect the DNS A record for this client to be automatically created in ipa master DNS. However, in recent versions of ipa it is not the case (Released 4.4.0 version is affected too) The ipaclient-install.log (attached) demonstrate a GSS failure at nsupdate
attachment ipaclient-install.log
The absence of the A record for the client in the master's DNS makes it impossible to resolve client hostname which in turn causes failure in connection check during promotion of this client to replica. As a result we are only able to promote the client by providing '--skip-conncheck' parameter to ipa-replica-install
