#3217 Change: IBus Chewing for Traditional Chinese (Taiwan) Desktop by Default
Closed: Accepted by sgallagh. Opened by amoloney.

Change the default input method for Traditional Chinese (Taiwan), the zh_TW locale, from ibus-libzhuyin to ibus-chewing. ibus-chewing is the ibus front-end of the libchewing library. Chewing (新酷音, https://chewing.im/) is one of the most popular and featureful IM among zh_TW users.

Owners, do not implement this work until the FESCo vote has explicitly ended.
The Fedora Program Manager will create a tracking bug in Bugzilla for this Change, which is your indication to proceed.
See the FESCo ticket policy and the Changes policy for more information.

REMINDER: This ticket is for FESCo members to vote on the proposal. Further discussion should happen in the devel list thread linked above.

+1

Sadly, there has been no feedback, apart from two positive votes in the discourse poll. I cannot judge the merit, since I don't speak the language and have no idea about the different input methods. Let's hope that the lack of feedback means that the interested folks are happy with the proposal.

I would have expected this to be run by our main CJK input maintainers, @pwu and @fujiwara ?

I did note in the Change page that the i18n project has already been tracking and helping with this Change for some time: so we are well aware and supported it to go forward.

ah, sorry, I missed that note.

I think @kanru is native speaker of Traditional Chinese. ibus-chewing is from the Traditional Chinese community.

We waited for the polling result from the discussion below in the past.

If this change is okay, we can help him to modify the langpacks and gnome-desktop packages.
