#192 Proposed Test Day - IPv6 - June 8, 2011 (Wednesday)
Closed: Fixed Opened by lwang.

On Jun 8, 2011 - the World IPv6 Test Day, we like to host a fedora IPv6 test day as well to help our fedora users to test out Fedora15's readiness on IPv6.

A description of the World IPv6 Day is here:

And the full fedora IPv6 Test Day project is described here:

wow, this is coming up, soon, huh!

so the test day page looks like it has all the relevant content, but we could present it a bit better by separating the instructions out into test cases and tidying up the formatting a bit. I can take a shot at that but it'll need those of you who actually understand this stuff to make sure I don't make any mistakes!

on the 'fedora event' side of things, once the page is order, we just need to ensure that announcements are sent to the appropriate mailing lists and news organizations - we should try and publicize this quite widely, I think, as it'll have lots of general interest. that also means we should try to make sure the test instructions are pretty idiot-proof :)

it also helps for as many people as possible to blog about it and spread the word in identica and all those other shiny new things, but we can sort that out a bit closer to the event. I usually work on the basis of publicizing the event two days ahead of time, but for a big one like this it might help to talk about it earlier and more often, to really generate some buzz.

It should be noted that the various Fedora webpages are already IPv6.

So I edited the wiki page a bit and hopefully improved it somewhat.

We should turn the suggested tests into small individual test cases and create a results table; also add any more test cases that seem appropriate.

I'm a reasonably savvy person but I still don't feel really confident following the instructions that are there; one major issue I can see is one that will probably affect many people. I have a router, with quite a few systems behind it - so what do I do? Should I try and set up the router to use the tunnel somehow? Or can I just run the tunnel setup script on one system behind my router and it will work? It would help a lot if the instructions could make this clear.

I made some additional cleanup to the test day wiki page (refer to [https://fedoraproject.org/w/index.php?title=QA%2FTest_Day%3A2011-06-08_IPv6&diff=240469&oldid=239639 diff]). Outstanding tasks include ...
1. Blogging about the Fedora Test Day (kylem will blog, but the more the better!)
2. Send announcement to test-announce@ (adamw will grab this)
3. Document ''How_to_setup_IPv6_connectivity_with_your_ISP'' - https://fedoraproject.org/w/index.php?title=How_to_setup_IPv6_connectivity_with_your_ISP&action=edit&redlink=1 (tgf will grab this)
4. Document additional test cases - only test is linked so far

I've just created a test case for various IPv6-aware commands.[[BR]]

I have just finished this.

lwang posted some wiki instructions. I've tweaked them to adjust the wording and make use of {{QA/Test_Case}}. A redhat.com blog post will arrive shortly announcing the event. I believe we just need to send out some fedora test-announce@ (and/or planet blogs).

I logged my findings. Some idiot had put some extra nonsense URLs beneath the "Problems identified" section, I removed them.

It appears that was SPAM ... thanks for resolving that :)
