On a fresh install of Fedora Kinoite, there's no shortcuts in the left panel in dolphin besides Home and Trash.

Fedora KDE has not this "bug", but KDE Neon follows the same behaviour has Fedora Kinoite.

So the questions are:
- Is this a bug or intentional?
- Is this the same on Fedora KDE & Kinoite or not? (on fresh installations)

i see this on Kinoite and KDE on both so i think it is KDE upstream made changes and you can always drag and drop what you want to left shortcuts page i think i saw this first on KDE 6.2

Ok so I don't know how did you have this bug on Fedora KDE. Here's the result I got from trying things in a VM :

Fedora KDE 41 installer (KDE 6.1.4): Shortcuts are here
Fedora KDE 41 (KDE 6.1.4): Shortcuts are here
Fedora Kinoite 41 (KDE 6.1.4): Shortuts are not here

So I don't think this is related to KDE 6.2
I will do more research to know in which version the bug occur, by trying each nightly version.

I've just booted a fresh Fedora 41 KDE Spin installer image in a VM and there is just Home Desktops & Trash.

Do you have a screen shot? Mine looks normal. Added Documents short cut to the left side.

it don't need to be a fresh install, it happens with newly created users too

I've just booted a fresh Fedora 41 KDE Spin installer image in a VM and there is just Home Desktops & Trash.

How did you download the iso ? I downloaded the latest beta iso from the Fedora website.

As we all get slightly different results here, it's likely to be a race condition somewhere.

This behavior is present at Fedora-KDE-Live-x86_64-41-1.4.iso

Looks like it's called by /etc/xdg/autostart/xdg-user-dirs-kde.desktop which should probably be converted to a systemd unit to be properly ordered maybe?

This came up again with rhbz#2319081 from @adamwill.

I remember one of the KDE upstream folks pointing me to xdg-user-dirs having been updated to systemd units but that work is still unreleased: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xdg/xdg-user-dirs/-/commits/master?ref_type=HEADS

Backporting the two unreleased commits should resolve this issue.

Should be fixed with https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2319081, so should be fixed in systems installed from the F42 ISO.
