#9994 Did not receive notification for new commits over IRC
Closed: Fixed by ttorcz. Opened by ttorcz.

Describe what you would like us to do:

Today (May 28th 2021) I've pushed some commits to my packages (ladvd, maradns, owfs, uptimed).
For example: https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/ladvd/c/6b54e2b75b89d3110ef463a539f0ef6693b65373?branch=rawhide

I did not receive any notification on IRC.
Checking on https://apps.fedoraproject.org/notifications/ttorcz.id.fedoraproject.org/irc/ , I have "SCM commits to packages that I own" filter enabled.
(nb. above page still talks about "freenode").

Please check what happened with the notifications and fix them to be delivered in the future.

Seems like a notifs bug interacting with the libera NickServ. ;(

May 28 17:57:22 notifs-backend01.iad2.fedoraproject.org twistd[15879]: [2021-05-28 17:57:22][fmn.delivery.backends.irc INFO] CMD unk: 'NickServ' sent us 'Use \x02/msg NickServ HELP\x02 for a \x02NickServ\x02 command listing.'

Perhaps @pingou could fix it? :)

So, I think that error might be related to verifying nicks are registered, but I don't see anything wrong with what it's sending.

Also, the irc bot is connecting and identifying correctly and I got some (non git related) notifications from it yesterday.

There are tracebacks on worker 1 however, might be related?

So, I am getting scm commits now...

@ttorcz did they show up for you now? Or can you try another one to see if they do now?

OH, and to be clear, you are using irc.libera.chat right? We moved everything off freenode... :)

I did a push to maradns repository. No notification on irc. I've waited 15 minutes.

Yes, I'm on libera.chat network (natively, not through matrix bridge), my nick is still 'zdzichu'.

I see it queueing the messages for you, but never delivering them. ;(

Can you /msg fedora-notif help
and get any answer?

[214720] <zdzichu> help
[214720] -:- [lithium.libera.chat] fedora-notif You must log in with services to message this user

I must say, after 25 years of using IRC, I have no idea what that message means.

You need to register and login to a account. See:
https://libera.chat/guides/registration#registering

I've registered my nick on may 27th (two days ago).
Surprisingly, 7 minutes after messaging fedora-notif I've received a notification for today's push.
It started to work somehow.
Well, Fedora might have chosen some established IRC network to migrate to. The IRC network which is barely a week old, will probably have some growing pains.

I don't actually see you as logged in... did you identify/login after you registered?
