Describe what you would like us to do:

I'm trying to re-launch the Java SIG over the coming weeks. The Stewardship SIG has done pretty good maintenance of ~200 Java packages for the past 14 months, but I'd like to start transitioning some packages that are in good shape into a proper Java SIG again, since the Stewardship SIG was not meant to be a permanent home for Java packages.

I am aware that there's an old java-sig user in FAS. In case the same name would lead to conflicts, can the user be deleted? It's no longer in use (it's the owner of one retired package, and only has "admin" or "commit" access to some others, mostly abandoned ones).

If the java-sig group would conflict with the old user of the same name, but it's not possible to delete the old java-sig user, I'm open for better naming suggestions :)

When do you need this to be done by? (YYYY/MM/DD)

No due date.

What do you think of a java-maint-sig?

@pingou I am aware, I went through the whole thing once before with the stewardship SIG :) So once the name is decided, I'll create a mailing list and bugzilla account as well, and link them together appropriately.

Though I don't particularly like the sound of java-maint-sig ... maybe java-maintainers? I see the -sig part is now optional, and since java-sig it collides with an existing user ... well ¯_(ツ)_/¯

After further discussion with @decathorpe which involved mentioning the erlang-maint-sig which had the same problem with an existing erlang-sig pseudo user and some more java-based jokes and a lot of heated arguments.
We came up with the a common agreement that java-maint-sig was my revenge on @decathorpe Java jokes.

So the group has been created in FAS:

The mailing list has been created:
https://lists.fedoraproject.org/admin/lists/java-maint-sig.lists.fedoraproject.org/

Once you've confirmed you're set on your side, I'll create the group in dist-git :)
  • created bugzilla account associated with the mailing list
  • set mailing list in FAS group

And group created in dist-git: https://src.fedoraproject.org/group/java-maint-sig :)
