Hello,
I would like to get commit access to https://github.com/fedora-infra/fedmsg or alternatively could I take it the project somewhere to pagure?
Fedmsg is dead?
I would like to do upstream resurrection, independent of Fedora plans to switch it for fedora-messaging. I always liked the fedmsg project.
I don't think it makes sense for this work to be done in Fedora-Infra. For our group, the project is dead and not being worked on by our team anymore. I think it makes better sense to fork this project and say you are resurecting it in your space.
Metadata Update from @smooge: - Issue close_status updated to: Will Not/Can Not fix - Issue priority set to: Waiting on Assignee (was: Needs Review) - Issue status updated to: Closed (was: Open)
Note that I feel like being part of the group even though I have been largely inactive and never being involved to the extent that you, guys, are.
However, the separation you are making seems to be too black&white to me and even though I get that binary view is good for quick problem solving, I also think it is not always the most correct representation of "reality".
I am not offended or anything. Just mentioning what I think... :)
But it doesn't matter if you or I wanted to keep the project alive. The group that 'owns' that space doesn't want to maintain it anymore and allowing interested parties to push updates there gives the impression Fedora Infra is still maintaining it. At a point like this, the software needs to be forked out and restarted elsewhere. If this were me, I would fork it, send a PR to the main repo with a README that it is being maintained and developed at XYZ, and go there for future updates. I would do this even though I work in Fedora Infra because it makes it clearer to future users what is going on and where.
Okay, thank you. It sounds like a good idea.
