#13065 Github rate limiting in Anitya
Closed: Upstream by james. Opened by jskarvad.

Describe what you would like us to do:

It seems there is a github rate limiting which complicates usage of Anitya with github projects. E.g. the openfec project, click the Test check:
https://release-monitoring.org/project/290988/edit

And you will very probably get:

Unable to retrieve the latest version from upstream!
ERROR: "Error when checking for new version: Rate limit was reached. Will be reset in \"2026-01-20T16:47:44+00:00\"."

I guess it's causing that I am not sometimes receiving updates on new versions available.
Could be there managed some exception or agreed with the Github to relax the rate limiting for Anitya? IMHO Fedora is Red Hat sponsored and Microsoft is Red Hat partner, so there should be a way.

When do you need this to be done by? (YYYY/MM/DD)

No deadline, nice to have.
