I am requesting a new tracking group be created called "aperturec" for management of a COPR project per the instructions here: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/infra/howtos/groups_in_fedora/
It would be great to have this done by the end of the week (2025/05/30)
Please let me know if there's anything else you need to fulfill this request!
Hi there Joe, Just to confirm, you're trying to share the maintenance of your COPR project with others? If not I do believe you don't need a group to work with COPR. See the guide here: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/quick-docs/publish-rpm-on-copr/
I think the guide you mention illustrates why we are requesting a group. At the bottom of the guide are the instructions on how to add the COPR and install packages:
user@host ~/copr-tito-quickdoc % sudo dnf copr enable <username>/hellocopr
Note that if we do not have a unifying group, I understand <username> will be whatever developer on our team was given the task of setting up the COPR project. A group would allow us to do things like add and remove developers as they enter/leave the project. Additionally, if the original developer(s) roll off the project, the COPR project slug won't change, it will still be aperturec/hellocopr (or whatever package we decide to put up there).
<username>
aperturec/hellocopr
I believe this is a request that other folks have made in the past, specifically for this purpose: https://pagure.io/fedora-infrastructure/issue/12346 https://pagure.io/fedora-infrastructure/issue/12328 https://pagure.io/fedora-infrastructure/issue/12257
