#43 Aging Hubs Feature

Feature Overview

This feature involves modifying some properties of any given hub based on its
age. The purpose of the feature is to make it clear to users upon viewing a hub
whether or not the hub is active / maintained or whether it hasn't been used as a
while to set user expectations.

The aging of a hub is indicated in these areas:

  • In the bookmarks bar (the horizontal light gray navbar along the top)
  • In the cards on the hub page
  • In a special age card set as a sticky on the top of the aged hub

More details on each below.

Bookmarks Bar

Some points:

  • The hub the user is currently viewing has an underline that matches the color of the hub name in the bookmark bar. The name of the currently-viewed hub should be bold.
  • Active hubs (with current activity) are displayed in Fedora blue (#3c6eb4)
  • As hubs become less and less active, or in other words, as more time has passed since any new activity has occurred on the hub, the hub name in the bookmarks bar will turn to lighter and lighter shades of gray.
    ** A hub that has been inactive for 1 month will be dark gray (#60605b)
    ** A hub that has been inactive for 6 months will be medium gray (#91918b)

* Cards on an inactive hub should be subtly grayed out in color ot make clear they are older (but form fields should remain bright so users understand they can still participate with the content, e.g. leave a comment.)
* Inactive hub card coloring could be done either via transparency in CSS or specific color codes. In the attached mockup the color codes we used:
** #f0f0f0 for the card body background
** #e0e1e2 for the comment area background

Sticky Card to Indicate Hub Age

This card basically appears on any hub that has been inactive for 1 month or more.
It will state the time length the hub has been inactive in months.
