Notes:

• Currently, FESCo's Package Sponsor Policy says that Bugzilla's FE-NEEDSPONSOR is to be used for sponsoring requests when new packages are requested
• Many people say in the devel thread that they think just using Pagure ticketing would be better
• But at least one person says FE-NEEDSPONSOR is better

I suggest we still let the thread settle down a bit, then do some improvement either here or in the FESCo policy.
The situation where packager candidates are left waiting with no response is not good at all.

Considering

• The plan to automate this
• and that the same advice is already included in the Package Review Process: "[After the review is complete] If you have not yet been sponsored, request sponsorship by raising an issue at packager-sponsors."

do you still think we need to do some change here?

I think we can merge it and once this

is implemented, I'll submit another PR updating this chapter.

Sounds good. Merged.

According to the policy in README,
commit access is granted to everybody with a merged pull request.
Therefore I have added you to package-maintainer-docs group.
You can now directly commit trivial fixes if you prefer that.
Pull requests are also accepted for any kind of change,
and strongly preferred for anything nontrivial.
