#53 May I have permission to do a major upgrade of singularity in EPEL 6 & 7
Closed: Fixed by smooge. Opened by dwd.

I maintain singularity in Fedora & EPEL, and EPEL 6 & 7 have the last singularity-2 release, version 2.6.1 Development stopped on singularity-2 in August 2016, and I have had singularity-3 releases in Fedora for a little over 3 months. singularity-3 is a complete rewrite, in golang instead of C. Users have been asking me to upgrade singularity in EPEL to singularity-3, and the last known incompatibility has been fixed in the just-released version 3.1.1. May I have permission to upgrade EPEL 6 & 7 to singularity-3.1.1 (or later)?

This was looked at and agreed to in the last meeting. Please follow this outline:

  1. Do test builds (you have done this) to make sure it works in EL6/EL7
  2. Make an announcement to epel-devel that the updates will be occurring and why.
  3. Do the builds and put them in bodhi with a 4 week or +4 karma for pushing to stable.
  4. When they are pushed to stable announce it again on the list.

Thank you.

Thanks @smooge. I was already thinking that I'd want it to be in testing for 4 weeks, so sounds great.
