This option is named to suggest that it requires an IP address, however it also accepts a hostname to be resolved by DNS. We should change this option name and tweak the upgrade script to convert existing instances to the new name.

Given that it's in such heavy use, I also suggest that we not REMOVE the existing version of the name, but throw deprecation warnings for at least one major release.

We should coordinate with packagers of the various distributions to ensure that the upgrade script gets run during package upgrade events.
