#269 Trademark approval request: Fedora Comp-Neuro Lab
Closed: approved by bcotton. Opened by ankursinha.

Hello,

The NeuroFedora SIG would like to provide Fedora users with a Comp-Neuro Lab image---it includes software used for computational modelling in neuroscience.

I think we need trademark approval for this, but I am not sure.

More information on the Comp-Neuro Lab image and NeuroFedora in general:

  • lab image kickstart: https://pagure.io/neuro-sig/neuro-scripts/blob/master/f/fedora-neuro.ks (will be renamed to fedora-comp-neuro.ks)

  • NeuroFedora blog: https://neuroblog.fedoraproject.org
  • NeuroFedora packages: https://src.fedoraproject.org/group/neuro-sig
  • The logo/stickers etc for NeuroFedora were created by the Fedora design team and reside here: https://pagure.io/neuro-sig/NeuroFedora/blob/master/f/Artwork
  • We've already presented NeuroFedora to the neuroscience community at this year's annual conference, CNS*2019: https://www.cnsorg.org/cns-2019-quick. Our poster is here: https://pagure.io/neuro-sig/2019-NeuroFedora-poster-CNS/blob/master/f/2019-CNS-NeuroFedora.pdf

Please let us know if there's anything else.

(Regarding the spins-vs-labs discussion this is another place where the distinction doesn't make sense. You're correct in that labs are assumed here since you're using the Fedora named.)

This falls into a Lab, Spins are really just Desktop versions of Fedora and are thought to have a bigger market than a lab that is aimed at solving a problem for a group of people.

After one week, the vote is (+4,0,-0). The request is approved.

Thank you for your attention, and for the approval, on this matter. It is much appreciated.
