#15 fedora joining openshift origin commons?
Closed: Fixed Opened by mattdm.

See http://origin.openshift.com/commons. OpenShift would love to have us join (and display the Fedora logo).

From the About page:

OpenShift Commons is a virtual meeting place where the OpenShift community comes together. We're here to collaborate and work together with companies using OpenShift.

The Commons builds connections and collaboration across OpenShift communities, projects and stakeholders. In doing so we'll enable the success of customers, users, partners, and contributors as we deepen our knowledge and experiences together.

OpenShift Commons is open to anyone. We have no Contributor License Agreement (CLA) or required donation to join. Instead we take each organization at their word to be active participants in forums, Special Interest Groups (SIGs), mailing lists and events.

Our goals go beyond code contributions. Commons is a place for companies using OpenShift to accelerate its success and adoption. To do this we'll act as resources for each other, share best practices and provide a forum for peer-to-peer communication.

The active participation would primarily come through the Cloud SIG and at the individual Fedora contributor level. There's no cost or... really strong commitment, really.

I'd like us to join... any objections?

It's unclear to me if you're requesting officially for the Cloud SIG, or officially as the FPL, or just because you think it's neat/important. You wear many hats. Which one do you have on right now?

It would reflect poorly on Fedora if we "joined" and didn't participate. So if the Cloud SIG (or did you mean Product WG? are those the same thing?) is the intended primary participate from a Fedora Project standpoint, I'd like to know there is buy-in from them.

Sorry, this is a combination of Cloud SIG hat + "I think it's neat/important (possibly as the FPL)".

(Cloud WG is a subset of Cloud SIG, FWIW.) We haven't made a formal decision, but I talked to a number of people and they're interested in participating. I can make that more formal request of the Cloud WG if it seems important to get stronger commitment first.

No objections, +1.

Assuming enough Cloud SIG people plan to contribute, I think that is a great idea. It can't hurt to ask on the cloud list to find out for sure.

Marking this as deferred for now due to lack of active participation. May revisit -- there are plans for "PaaS node" based on openshift for fedora server 24, for example
