#49142 Bytes vs unicode issue in plugin tests

Issue Description

In certain scenarios on RHEL7 the plugin_test from the dynamic suite fails due to a byte issue. This is due to the use of the Legacy Backend manager.

Swap the test to use the new backend controller.
